Museum Ronggowarsito

Museum Ronggowarsito, this museum is located on Jalan Abdul Rahman Saleh. It is the most complete museum in Semarang that collects historical articles, environment, archeology, culture and record on the archipelago. The name of Ronggowarsito was taken from one of Indonesian literary man who was famous with his works on philosphy and culture.

This museum inhabits 1.8 hectares wide and it is opened everyday from 08:00 am - 14.00 pm except on Sunday

Simpang Lima

Simpang Lima is one of a special place that adds to Semarang's icon. This place is a square that located at the center of crossroad of Jl. Pandanaran (the west) and Jl Ahmad Yani (the east). Jl. Gajah mada and Jl Pahlawan (the east) and jl KH Ahmad Dahlan (the east-north). Nowadays Simpang Lima is a square as well as a shopping center in Semarang. In addition Simpang Lima is also used for a concert, recreational place and even for "Pasar Tiban" (sudden market) at particular times. All sort of foods, both heavy and light meals are sold with "lesehan" style (served on the sidewalk using only a mat and table) along the square.

Tugu Muda Semarang

Tugu Muda is a historical monument that is located right in the hearth of Semarang. This monument was built as reminiscence to all the heroes that died in five days battle againts Japanese soldiers on 14ht to 19th October 1945 in Semarang when a lot of Semarang's youngsters died in this battle.

The monument shape like candle and has a relief that describes the people's suffering at that time. This monument was officially announced on 20th May 1953 by the previous president of Indonesia, Soekarno.

Lawang Sewu Semarang

Gedung Lawang Sewu in the beginning this building was the central office of Nederlandsch Indishe Spoorweg Naatschappij or used to be called NIS. its Dutch train company.

The magnificent building is styled in art deco and obtains an exclusive feature. Art Deco style was developed from 1850 to 1940 in Europe. The local people call this building Gedung Lawang Sewu because this building has a specific characteristic which posesses many doors, "lawang" in Javanese means a door, while "sewu" means a thousand. So lawang sewu analogically describes the numerous doors this building have; despite the fact that they re not exactly a thousand.

Its not difficult to reach this location, because its close to Tugu Muda Monument at the corner of the city. Gedung Lawang Sewu is a monumental as well as gorgeous building and the design concept follows the principle of curve architecture that apply Gothics twin tower on the left and right side of the main gate.

Further more this building stretches lenghtwise that makes it looks firm, huge and beautiful. According to the history this ancient building was built in 1903 and officially finished on 1st July 1907

Gereja Blenduk

Gereja Blenduk or Blenduk church was built in 1750 and renovated in 1894. This church is a left over from the Dutch during its annexation here. Its called Blenduk because the shape of its dome looks like a ball thats being sliced in half, that why a local people call it "mblenduk".
wiht 400 acres wide, this building is a hexagonal with quadrangular rooms and there is a Greece crucifix hang on the side of the room.

The interior is decorated wholly in Dutch style and beauty with well arranged plants; meanwhile the balcony has unique interior design. As one of old buildings at Old town Semarang, this building is worth seeing, The visiting time is at all times.

Affandi Museum

is one of interesting place to see. It is the home of the greatest painter with International level (Affandi 1907-1990). You can see the private workshop and museum that reserve collection of Affandi's finest artwork, and also his distinguished daughter, Kartika.

Affandi Museum has a strategic position from its surroundings. At the south, there are Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga and Manggala Bhakti Wanitatama building. At the north, there is Sanata Dharma University. There are Gajah Wong river and Laksda Adi Sucipto road, while Gelael Supermarket and Institut Pertanian "STIPER" at its west. This strategic position make Affandi Museum is a reasonable culture place to visit when you are in Yogyakarta.

Affandi Museum is laying at Jl. Laksda Adi Sucipto 167, Yogyakarta. This street has a famous name called Solo street because it connects two big cities (that is Yogyakarta and Solo). The museum which is placed at the west of the Gajah Wong river has its wide area for about 3500 are. This area consist of the museum itself and the building used to Affandi's house. The unusual land surface gave an inspiration to Affandi to build unique building on it. The result is, an unique integrated environment planned by him self.

The first gallery was finished in 1962 and used for showing room of his works in an exhibition aula . This gallery officially opened in 1974 by Prof. Ida Bagus Mantra who is the General Culture Director in that year. The gallery has a unique shape. Unlike the others museum, this gallery is very simple but has a high taste of arts. Plus, the legendary Affandi's paintings inside this building

Yogyakarta Kembali Museum

is the part of Yogyakarta Kembali Monument. The monument is established to commemorate the refunctioning of Yogyakarta as the capital of Republic Indonesia on July 6, 1966.
The 31 meters high monument, symbolize a mount of heaven. This monument has three floor, first floor consist of a museum library, an auditorium and a cafetaria.

Yogyakarta has large number of Indonesian's famous artist. Some of them are Affandi, Amri Yahya and Sapto Hudoyo.
Nomerous galleries and studios or art museum can be found in this city

Prince Diponegoro Munument Museum

This museum was the former home of Prince Diponegoro, a noble from Ngayogyokarto Hadiningrat who bravely opposed the Dutch colonials in 1825-1830.
This building is still resembles traditional Javanese atmosphere. The museum located in the north west side of the city, at jl. HOS Cokroaminto.
At jl Sultan Agung, part of facility provided by the Faculty of Biology of Gajahmada University you can find Biology museum.
It is related particularly to knowledge about flora and fauna that are found in Indonesia.
This museum equipped with dioramas setting that portrays the life of the animals and their habitat. Among these animlas, there are the Komodo dragon, the biggest giant lizard on earth that only live on Komodo Island in Indonesia

It is situated on the northern side of the north square (alun-alun utara). Built in 1935 with Javanese architecture
